There are eight years left to the Government's self-imposed deadline in 2014 to give almost all public housing blocks direct lift access on every floor.
The multi-billion dollar project is part of a wider effort to make Singapore's living environment more elder- and disabled-friendly.
Opposition-held wards, however, are last in line for these lift upgrades.
In February, there were 3000 high-rise and 800 low-rise blocks without lifts stopping at every floor.

No surprises there. They did say it during the elections.
While it does not come as a surprise to me, I'm disturbed that it's reported in such a matter-of-factly manner.
Agad. The Straits Times and PAP has morphed into an indistinguishable entity.
You can be given some space in The Ridge Feb issue to talk about how the ST and PAP have indeed morphed so (according to you, that is haha). I'm serious.
