iCynical

Skepticism is okay, but not cynicism.

Chanting the above became my daily ritual, before I read the local papers. But I knew I was a lost cause when I read the most interesting page 3 of The State's Times (How Prof. Thio Li-Ann would describe it... Heh.) this year.

SM's call to wealthy: Give 0.5% of annual pay to needy.
He hopes Singapore will one day become a country known for philanthropy.

Placed strategically beside the above article was this:

I giggled, cried, laughed and went into spasms all at the same time. If you thought ROFL wasn't possible in real life, you would be definitely convinced otherwise.

So I speculated our dear president, Mr Nathan who drew $2.6 million in 2006 (with an impending increase of $200,000 this year) would be "compelled" to donate at least $13,000. If we were to assume that our various ministers will follow suit, the poor is set to have another windfall!

Woohoo!
