Skiving the Sky
12th July 2007
Yup. It's the 1st of August and the rate of blogging is still smaller than the rate of activity. Sianz, so here a chop-chop-curry-pok entry about the prominent Sky Tower in Auckland.
I took a deep breath as the lift whizzed it's way up to the Observatory Deck... And lo and behold! The view was....

So- so.
I guess maybe I had visited the Macau Tower less than a year ago so there wasn't anything spectacularly new for me. Incidentally, it was the Sky Tower which inspired Stanley Ho to commission a similar one to be built in Macau.
Okay, to be fair, you can get a panoramic view of the whole city, almost like Google Earth in 3D.
You can have a glimpse of terror or excited anticipation as they hang mid-air in front of the observatory deck...
before plunging down to bull's-eye.Of course, for the chicken hearted (or the financially strapped), some had to resort to "blue screen effect" to fake a picture of them free falling.
I too, had my own form of cheap thrill.
Arrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

The Sky Tower is an observation and radio tower located on the corner of Victoria and Federal Streets in the central business district of Auckland, New Zealand. It is 328 metres tall, as measured from ground level to the top of the mast, making it the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere, and the 13th tallest member of the World Federation of Great Towers.Because of the paltry number of skyscrapers, the Sky Tower is visible throughout Auckland City, making it a near impossible task to lose your sense of directions here.
A quick greeting of Sky Tower outside our apartment.Straight after receiving our student ID cards from University of Auckland, we made use of our freshly-attained student status to visit the Sky Tower at a discounted price.

The Second Tallest Structure in Auckland, ANZ Tower
One of the key attraction of Sky Tower is the modified bungy jump, which is crudely called Sky Jump. Costing $195.00 and lasting only 11 seconds over a range of 192m, it is as they always say, not a thing for the faint-hearted.You can have a glimpse of terror or excited anticipation as they hang mid-air in front of the observatory deck...

If you can make music sound good on the ancient CMI piano...then congrats! haha
Haha, I sense someone is also a victim? It's really not that bad if your expectation is not sky-high.
And yucks, I should post some pics of the gross piano some day.
There was one in Berlin and one in stuttgart, but NO! i didn't go up it looked so pathetic haha
btw engin canteen has a new stall; it took over the kway chap stall (time to go anyway), and the one serving the stall is the PANGGANG MAN.
PANGGANG MAN? Is that the Indonesian Food one?
Heh, so now what's the stall selling now?
yes, he shifted to the new stall. dunno if he's the new owner or just a co-worker.
bak kut teh
black vinegar pork trotters

very soupy stuff & should whip up quite a storm and add a gem to engin canteen. haha
Wow. Sounds great, you should take a few pics of the food and post it on your almost-abandoned blog...
